Is Donut SMP Safe? Scams, the Store, Bans and What Parents Should Know

A straight answer on joining, buying and letting your kid play, and where the real risks sit.

Is Donut SMP safe? The server itself is a big, established Minecraft server with published rules, a privacy policy and an official store run through Tebex. What gets people into trouble is mostly around it: fake "free Donut+" links, third-party sellers, non-refundable purchases, bans players think were unfair, and an open community with proximity voice chat. That's the picture as of October 2026.

The short version: only ever type the store address yourself, never click links from whispers or DMs, never buy currency or accounts from other players, and treat every purchase as final. Parents, there's a checklist near the bottom.

Is it safe to join Donut SMP?

Joining is just connecting to a public Minecraft server, so it carries the same risks as any big one: strangers, chat, and people trying to trick you. The server's own site says it's "Not associated with Mojang or Microsoft", and it links an official Discord and a support portal at support.donutsmp.net. For the actual address and how to connect, see my Donut SMP IP guide.

Your account is the thing worth protecting. Never share your Microsoft login with anyone, for any reason, including "staff".

Scams to watch for

Fake "someone gifted you Donut+" links

This is the one I'd tell every player about. Players on r/DonutSMP have posted about it more than once (threads from May and August 2026). The pattern they describe: you get a whisper saying someone gifted you Donut+, with a link to a site that looks just like the real store. One poster said they lost their Microsoft account that way, with the email and password changed by the scammer. Another thread describes the same "free Donut+" bait pointing at a badly faked store site, plus bots messaging lots of players to join some group or Discord.

Whatever a whisper promises, never log in on a site someone links you to. If you want to buy something, go to the server's official site and use the Store link from there.

Account, item and money sellers

Selling or buying accounts, items, currency or access outside official channels is against the server's Terms of Service. So is real-money trading ("IRL trading"), and the terms say any such offer on Discord, websites, social networks or marketplaces is "strictly prohibited unless explicitly authorized by DonutSMP in writing." So a "money seller" is breaking the rules, and you're breaking them by buying. You also have no protection: the refund policy excludes purchases made outside official channels.

Plain old trade scams

One community wiki says "never trust a random player, always assume they are trying to scam you." That's good advice on any server with a player economy. Don't hand over valuables on a promise, and check what you're actually getting before you confirm a trade.

Is the Donut SMP store trusted?

The official store at store.donutsmp.net runs on Tebex, a third-party webstore platform. It sells Donut+ packages and shard packages. Prices and what's in each one change, so check the storefront.

What matters more is the refund policy. Purchases (ranks, items, in-game currency, services) are "generally final and non-refundable once delivered." No refunds if you're suspended or terminated for breaking the rules, if you lose items to gameplay, resets, updates or balancing, if you buy by accident, or if someone used your shared login. Refunds only happen where the law requires or at the server's discretion, and your legal consumer rights still apply.

One more thing in there: filing a chargeback or payment dispute without contacting support first "may result in immediate suspension or termination of the associated account." So email support@donutsmp.net or open a ticket first, and keep your order receipt.

What Trustpilot says

As of late October 2026, Trustpilot shows donutsmp.net at 2.0 out of 5 from 27 reviews, most of them one-star. The profile is unclaimed and Trustpilot notes that ratings may not be representative, since the company hasn't invited reviews. The complaints are individual, unverified claims, but they cluster: slow support, bans players call unfair, trouble cancelling a subscription, double charges, lag and queues (worse on Bedrock, they say), griefing and a toxic community. One reviewer said their appeal was handled in a day. Read it as a mood check, not a verdict.

Is Donut SMP pay-to-win?

Players argue about it, and a controversial June 2026 update turned up the heat. Since the store sells Donut+ and shard packages, and the refund policy lists in-game currency among the things sold, it's a fair question. Ask around in the community before you spend, and remember purchases are final.

Bans, IP history and appeals

Does Donut SMP IP ban you? The server hasn't published that. What its privacy policy does say: it keeps your IP address history for up to 12 months, plus your Minecraft UUID and username, ban and mute history, and support ticket transcripts (up to 36 months). The Terms of Service say punishments can be applied "without prior notice and may extend to associated accounts."

The rules worth knowing so you don't get banned by accident:

On the harsh side, the terms say all accounts, items and currency stay the server's property, items can be removed "at any time, without compensation," and the server isn't responsible for losses from bans or server changes. Enforcement decisions are "final unless explicitly stated otherwise." Appeals do exist, through the official Discord or a support ticket. How fast you hear back varies from case to case.

Is Donut SMP safe for kids?

Mojang's parents' guide rates base Minecraft ESRB Everyone 10+ and PEGI 7. That rating is for the base game, not for any server's chat or community. Mojang curates its Marketplace, but that curation doesn't extend to third-party servers.

Things I'd weigh for Donut SMP specifically:

The store's Tebex privacy notice says the site isn't intended for children and encourages minors to check with a parent or guardian before submitting information.

Parent checklist

  1. Use a child Microsoft account with family settings. Per Mojang's guide, multiplayer is off by default on child accounts (under 16 in the US and EU), and only an adult account can switch it on. More in my Minecraft parental controls guide.
  2. Keep the multiplayer switch in your hands, and decide server by server.
  3. Tell them: never click a store or gift link sent in a whisper or DM. Type the address from the official site.
  4. Never share the Microsoft login, not even with someone claiming to be staff.
  5. No buying currency, items or accounts from other players. It's against the rules and nobody will refund it.
  6. Read the refund policy before any purchase. Use a gift card or a payment method with a limit.
  7. Talk about voice chat: who can hear them, and what to do if someone's rude.
  8. Keep order receipts, and contact support before any chargeback.

If Donut SMP isn't for you

If the store, the economy or the community puts you off, there are plenty of other servers. My list of servers like Donut SMP is the place to start, and lifesteal SMP servers are another direction to look.
