What is Folly?
A standalone multiplayer voxel game. You get a personal island in the sky, with a portal into a shared universe of worlds and mini-games. Points you earn anywhere buy blocks for your island — and eventually your island can become a hub for worlds you host yourself.
When does Folly release?
August 14th, 2026, 12:00 PM Eastern. Claim your island name before then and you'll get a launch-day email.
Is Folly free?
Folly is free to play at launch.
Is Folly a Minecraft mod or server?
No. Folly is its own game with its own native client — no Minecraft install, no Java versions, no mod packs. If you love voxel games, you'll feel at home; you just won't need anything else to play.
How does my island work?
You start small: a floating island, the void below, a handful of blocks. Bridge out to neighboring islands, bring resources home, and build a base that runs itself — farms, generators, infrastructure. The other half of the game is what your island is connected to: read the full story.
Can I host my own server or make my own games?
Yes — anyone's island can become a hub. Folly's entire base game is built as mods on the same platform you get, and player-hosted servers plus creator tools roll out after launch. Details and the creator waitlist are here.
What platforms does Folly run on?
PC at launch, with a native client.
Can I play with friends?
Yes. Link portals directly between your islands, visit each other's bases, and take on co-op game worlds together — every match runs on its own server, so your group always gets its own run.
