If you're working out how to make money on Donut SMP, the first trick is simple: stop selling everything to the server. You start with $0, and the one thing that matters early is picking the right place to sell: /sell pays a fixed price, while the auction house (/ah) and buy orders (/orders) often pay more. Gather something in bulk, check all three, sell where it pays best, then roll the cash into your first farm. That's the whole game early on, as of autumn 2026.
On Bedrock it's the same economy and the same commands. And two things to skip from day one: buying money for real cash and trying "money glitch" tricks. Both break the server's rules and can cost you the account.
How money works on Donut SMP
Money is the main currency, and everyone starts with nothing. Type /bal to see your balance and /baltop to see who's richest. /pay <player> <amount> sends money to another player. Big numbers are written 1K, 1M, 1B and 1T, so "25M" means $25,000,000.
Shards are a separate premium currency, and they're not the money that shows up in /bal.
One idea to hold onto: your balance isn't your wealth. Money inflates, so veteran players park value in things like spawners, elytras and enchanted golden apples instead of cash. A big number in /bal means less than it looks.
The four ways to sell: /sell, /ah, /orders and /pay
| Route | How it works | Good for |
|---|---|---|
/sell | Instant sale to the server at a fixed base price. /worth <item> shows what the server pays, /sellhistory shows past sales. | Quick cash, junk, anything nobody wants |
/ah | Player auction house. Hold the item and run /ah sell <price>. Sellers set the price, so the same item varies. | Items worth more than the base price |
/orders | Buy orders. Players post what they'll pay, you supply the items and get paid. /order <search> finds them. | Bulk resources and farm drops |
/pay | Direct player-to-player payment. | Agreed trades, nothing else |
The base price from /sell is often lower than what players will pay. That gap is the whole trick. Before you sell a stack, search /ah, check /orders, and compare with /worth. Ten seconds of looking beats an hour of grinding.
Since a June 2026 update, the routes also link up a bit: a higher-paying order can pick up items you sell with /sell, and an auction listing can sell straight into an order that pays more than your asking price. The rules around that change, so treat it as a bonus and still compare for yourself.
How to make money on Donut SMP for beginners (no farm needed)
Your first hour doesn't need a farm or any capital. Gather things in bulk and sell them smartly:
- Pick something that comes in stacks. Cobblestone, wood and crops are the usual starters.
- Check
/ordersfirst. Players post buy orders for bulk basics and farm drops, and those often pay better than the server does. - Search
/ahbefore you list. See what the same item is going for and price just under it. - Use
/sellas the fallback. Fast, but you're taking the server's price. - Save for your first farm instead of spending as it comes in.
It isn't glamorous. But it's honest income that can't get you banned, and it teaches you what things are worth. That knowledge is what flipping later runs on.
Be wary of any video promising 20M, 150M or 250M an hour. Those are title claims. Prices shift from season to season, and a method that worked in one video may not work now.
Best money making method on Donut SMP: farms
There isn't one best method, there's a ladder. Players tend to climb it like this:
Simple farms first
Kelp and basic crop farms cost almost nothing to build, and one Donut farm-schematic site calls kelp the safest passive income. They won't make you rich, but they pay for what's next. If you've never built an automatic farm, my guide to Minecraft skyblock farms covers the basic designs.
Mid-game farms
Once you have some cash, the farms people talk about most are slime, bonemeal and bamboo, plus general mob farms for iron. They take real building time and materials. Many players grab a schematic for the build (a Litematica file) instead of designing from scratch.
Income figures in videos and guides come from someone's one-off test, and they swing with the market. If you want a number, build a small version and time it yourself over a few hours, then scale up once you've seen what it really makes.
Flipping
Flipping means buying something below its usual price on /ah or from orders and reselling it for more. It needs a bit of starting capital and a good feel for prices, and profit isn't guaranteed. It's a good second-stage move once your first farm is running. Independent price trackers like DonutStats keep price history, which beats guessing.
High-value items
Things with limited supply sell high, elytra from the End being the classic example. It's risky and slow for a beginner, but it's a real route once you can survive there.
What about spawners?
Spawners are blocks that produce mob drops: skeleton spawners give bones, iron golem spawners give iron. As of September 2026, no new spawners can be obtained. They were removed from the Shard Shop and nothing creates new ones, so the ones that exist just change hands between players.
That makes them a late-game purchase, not a way to get started. Their output doesn't stack evenly either: players who've measured it find each spawner produces less as a farm grows, so more spawners isn't simply more money. The valuable ones trade directly between players, which is where scammers love to operate (see below). And a stash full of spawners is a target: don't keep your farm, your valuables and your stash in the same place.
How to get money on Donut SMP on Bedrock
Same methods, same world. Bedrock players join the same server and the same economy as Java players, so /bal, /ah, /orders and /pay work the same way. I haven't found any Bedrock-only money trick. Some menus look different, and Bedrock players' names show up with a leading dot (.Name).

Scams and the rules around money
Money is where new players get burned. Here's how the rules read, based on a community wiki that summarizes the server's terms as of September 2026. Check /rules in game, because terms change.
- Real-money trading is banned for both sides. Buying or selling money, items, accounts or access for real cash outside the official store breaks the rules, even if both people agree. Sites selling Donut SMP money for real cash are breaking those rules, and buying from them risks your account.
- Duping and exploits are bannable. The rules say to report them. That includes anything sold as a "money glitch". Skip those videos, and don't try the tricks they show.
- Macros, auto-clickers and unfair-advantage mods are banned. An AFK trick built on a macro can cost you the account.
- No more than five accounts. Going over that breaks the rules too.
- Punishments can be harsh: suspension, removed items, and action against linked accounts.
Trade scams
- An advertisement isn't proof. A listing, a screenshot or a Discord message doesn't show the seller owns the spawner or item.
- Look at the item before you hand over money, and confirm the terms before you run
/pay. - Never share your Microsoft login or click links from whispers. My Is Donut SMP safe? guide covers the fake gift-link scams.
- I'd treat any random player who's in a hurry to trade as someone trying something.
Where to go from here
Start with the sell-route comparison, build kelp or a crop farm, then work up the ladder. If the economy grind clicks with you, Minecraft economy servers has other places to play it, and servers like Donut SMP is the list for when you want a similar server with a different crowd.
