Plenty of people get tired of Hypixel SkyBlock without getting tired of the genre. One player on the Hypixel forums put it as being bored after about four years but still loving "the whole grindy-ness and community market aspects." That's the real problem when you go looking for games like Hypixel SkyBlock: you don't want another island map, you want the loop. Numbers go up, gear gets better, a market eats your afternoon. So I've sorted these by the part you're missing, not ranked them. Prices are Steam list prices as of October 2026 (US store), and sales change them, so check the storefront.
What game is most like Hypixel SkyBlock?
Old School RuneScape is the answer the forums keep landing on. One reply in that same thread called it "very similar" to SkyBlock. It's a skill grind with a player-run market, which is the core of the thing. If it's the island and the automation you want instead, keep reading, because the answer changes.

If you miss the skill grind and the market
Old School RuneScape
This is the one. You train skills and trade through the Grand Exchange, which is the "community market" half of what that burnt-out player was asking for. It looks nothing like Minecraft, so go in expecting an old-school MMO, not a block game. Make sure you get Old School RuneScape specifically, not the other RuneScape. The forum reply that recommended it said exactly that.
It has a permanent free version, running since 2015. Free players get 15 skills, 3 Grand Exchange offer slots and 400 bank spaces. Members get a bigger map, more skills, items and quests, plus 8 offer slots. You can also earn membership with bonds bought using in-game coins, which beats the real-money stores SkyBlock players are used to. The official site has a "Try Free" button. The home page lists in-game purchases that include random items, so keep an eye on that if kids are playing.
Stardew Valley
Not a SkyBlock clone, but the skill loop is the same itch in a cozier coat. You level up five areas (farming, mining, combat, fishing and foraging), pick professions, craft machines like furnaces and oil makers, and donate artifacts and minerals to a museum. There's a big cave to mine, and the farm is a small home base you keep tuning. It's $14.99 on Steam, with online co-op for up to 8 players, so you can drag friends along.
If you miss minions and automation
Factorio
If minions were your favourite part of SkyBlock, Factorio is that idea taken far past reasonable. You mine resources, research technologies, automate production and defend against the locals, all on an infinite 2D map. It's $35.00 on Steam for Windows, macOS and Linux, with online co-op and cross-platform multiplayer. The store page says no sale is planned for the foreseeable future, which is a lot to pay for a game you haven't tried. Good news: there's a free demo. Try that first.
Timberborn
A voxel colony sim built around base building and automation. It left Early Access and hit 1.0 on March 12, 2026. It's $34.99 on Steam for Windows and macOS, and the store lists it as single-player only. So this is the pick for a solo evening, not a game to play with a group.
If you miss the gear and boss progression
Terraria
The cheapest paid game on this page at $9.99 on Steam, and still one of the best at "kill boss, get better gear, kill harder boss." It has online co-op. The 1.4.5 update in January 2026 also added a Skyblock world seed, so you can literally start on a floating island again. I wrote a full Terraria skyblock seed guide if you want to try it. For more in this vein, my games like Terraria list goes wider.
If you'd rather stay in Minecraft for the RPG side, my guide to Minecraft RPG servers is the place to look.
If you miss having your own island
Islands on Roblox
On Roblox the game is now just called Islands, from Easy.gg. You build your own island, run big farms, raise animals, cook, sell items for money and go loot monsters and bosses. There's a skills page too. It's free on Roblox, with VIP and PRO passes for extras, and Roblox shows it last updated in January 2026. It's more farm-and-build than a strict one-tree-block start, but the DNA is there. The full story, including what happened to the original and what else is on Roblox, is in my Roblox skyblock guide.
Just want another Minecraft server?
If it's only Hypixel you're done with, you don't need a different game. My list of the best skyblock servers covers the alternatives, and the Hypixel SkyBlock mods page is worth a look if you're staying put and just want the game to feel better.
Free options
Three of these cost nothing to start: Old School RuneScape's free version, Islands on Roblox and Factorio's demo. The rest are paid on Steam. If I could only pick one, it'd be Old School RuneScape, because it's the one with the market.
So which one should you play?
Miss the grind and the economy: Old School RuneScape. Want it cozy: Stardew Valley. Want minions on steroids: Factorio. Want a solo base builder: Timberborn. Want bosses and a skyblock start for $9.99: Terraria. Want a quick Roblox island: Islands.
If you want skyblock without Minecraft
Folly isn't a SkyBlock clone and it isn't out yet. It's a free standalone voxel game for PC, no purchases required, where every player gets a personal universe that starts as one small island in the void. It's coming soon in early access, and player-hosted servers and creator tools are planned to roll out during early access. Here's how the island loop works, and you can claim your universe name.
