Search for Minecraft RPG servers and you get directory grids, a pile of YouTube lists and a Reddit thread where somebody says "there's nothing exactly like Wynncraft, yet." That last line is mostly right. Wynncraft is the benchmark, so this page starts there, then goes through the servers players most often name next to it. Each one comes with its address, edition and version where the server lists them, what kind of RPG it is, and a player count where its site shows one, read on October 17, 2026. Counts move all day, so treat them as a snapshot.
Wynncraft: the benchmark
Wynncraft has been running since 2013 and calls itself the largest Minecraft MMORPG server. You pick a class, take on quests, trade, fight bosses, collect loot, run raids and fight over guild territory across a hand-built map that's more than ten years old. The address is play.wynncraft.com.
- Edition: Java only. Its FAQ says outright that it isn't on Bedrock.
- Version: Minecraft 1.21.4 or higher. Its FAQ recommends the latest.
- Mods: none required.
- Store: ranks, crates, pets and similar items. Some players on Reddit call it pay-to-win, and others find the grind repetitive after a while. Look at the store before you decide how you feel about it.
One Reddit comment gets at why it's hard to replace: Wynncraft is "more of its own game" than a Minecraft server with RPG bits bolted on. If you liked that, the next section is for you.
Servers like Wynncraft
These four are real, built-out RPGs, and I checked each one against its own site. The first two are the names that come up most when people ask for servers like Wynncraft.
Monumenta
Monumenta bills itself as a free complete-the-monument MMO RPG. It started as an adventure map where you chase coloured wools through dungeons, and it's grown into a public world with combat classes and upgrades, quests and lore, custom items, world bosses, guilds and puzzles. The address is server.playmonumenta.com, and the site's header lists Minecraft 1.20.4. It listed 73 players online on October 17, 2026.
It's clearly still being worked on: its changelog had a Creeperween event update on October 15. The site has a Patreon link and a list of top patrons. It only lists a Java version, so I'd plan on Java. One Wynncraft fan says Monumenta "builds on Minecraft mechanics," so you still break and place blocks, where Wynncraft plays more like its own game. That's a good way to pick between them.
Telos Realms
Telos Realms describes itself as a bullet-hell MMORPG, with bosses, dungeons, guilds, pets and mounts. The address is play.telosrealms.com, and it had 17 players on October 17, 2026. It has its own wiki and a leaderboard.
The store sells supporter subscriptions, seasonal passes and keys. Prices are in GBP and change, so check the store. Bullet hell means dodging attack patterns instead of trading hits, so if that sounds like your thing, this is where I'd go first.
Faceland
Faceland is an MMORPG with over 200 abilities. You build your own class from combat skills like Swordsmanship, Archery and Arcane Magics, then level non-combat skills like Fishing, Crafting, Mining, Alchemy and Cooking next to them. Loot is randomly generated, and the site claims more than a trillion possible combinations for a single item type. It also has dungeons, bosses, guild PvP arenas and a player-run economy.
The address on its site is BETA.FACE.LAND, and the site lists Minecraft 26.2+. There were 11 players online on October 17, 2026. It uses Excalibur 16x textures. The store sells FaceGems for real money. Watch out: the domain faceland.com is an unrelated photography agency. Use face.land.
Hyperborea
Hyperborea is a story-driven action-RPG server. Its wiki covers weapons, areas, bosses, NPCs, multiple endings and challenge modes. Think of it as an adventure map you play through, not a persistent MMO world to live in. The address is playhyperborea.com, and the wiki lists versions 1.21.4 to 1.21.11. Come for the campaign.
Wynncraft vs the alternatives
| Server | Address | Edition | Version (as listed) | Style | Players, Oct 17, 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wynncraft | play.wynncraft.com | Java only | 1.21.4+ | Classes, quests, raids, guild wars | Not shown |
| Monumenta | server.playmonumenta.com | Java | 1.20.4 | Dungeon MMO built on Minecraft mechanics | 73 |
| Telos Realms | play.telosrealms.com | Not stated | Not listed | Bullet-hell MMORPG | 17 |
| Faceland | BETA.FACE.LAND | Java | 26.2+ | Build-your-own-class MMORPG | 11 |
| Hyperborea | playhyperborea.com | Not stated | 1.21.4 to 1.21.11 | Story-driven action-RPG | Not shown |
Honestly? If you want something as big as Wynncraft, the Reddit verdict holds: there's nothing exactly like it yet. Of these four, Monumenta had the most people online when I looked. Hyperborea is the one to try if a story matters more to you than an open world.
RPG servers on Bedrock
Short answer: the big ones are Java. Wynncraft says outright it isn't on Bedrock, and Monumenta and Faceland only list Java versions. As one Bedrock player on Reddit put it, "I hate finding a cool server only to find out I can't play on it."
What you can actually reach are small, player-run RPG servers on Minehut, which takes Java and Bedrock players. Minehut's RPG list on October 17 included ScepterRPG (scepterrpg.minehut.gg) with classes, raids, dungeons and bosses, and LegendsRPG (legendsrpg.minehut.gg), which wants 1.21.4 or newer. Elevators (elevators.minehut.gg) is a solo-project RPG with 600+ items and bosses. Each had two or three people online. These are fun if you like small worlds, but they're not Wynncraft-sized.
On Bedrock, add bedrock.minehut.com with port 19132. On Java it's mc.minehut.com, then /join <name>. If you need to add a server on a console, my guide to adding servers on Xbox covers it. If you're deciding whether to switch editions for the big RPGs, there's a Java vs Bedrock comparison.
RPG servers vs roleplay servers
People mix these up constantly, and server lists often file them together. An RPG server is mechanical: classes, skill trees, quests, custom mobs and loot tables. A roleplay server is narrative: you stay in character and make the story up with other players. Some servers do both. Wynncraft's own site talks about roleplaying as a class, even though what you're doing is fighting and questing. If you want classes and loot, search "RPG" or "MMORPG." If you want to act out a character, add "roleplay" to the search.
How to join
On Java, go to Multiplayer, choose Add Server, paste the address and connect. Check the version above before you do. Wynncraft wants 1.21.4 or higher, and Hyperborea lists 1.21.4 to 1.21.11. The full walkthrough is in how to join a Minecraft server. If you're hunting for more places after this, Minecraft servers to join has the general list, and modded Minecraft servers covers servers where you do install mods. For minigame networks instead of RPGs, see servers like Hypixel. If you'd rather have lawless survival than quests, my list of Minecraft anarchy servers is the opposite end of the spectrum. If you're on a cracked or "non-premium" launcher, what cracked Minecraft really means is the page to read.
The skyblock crossover
Players on Reddit often name Hypixel SkyBlock as the nearest RPG-like thing in Minecraft, though others say it's not an RPG at all. If that's your angle, my guide to Hypixel SkyBlock mods and texture packs is a good place to begin.
So which one?
Want the closest thing to Wynncraft? Try Monumenta. Want bullet-hell boss fights? Telos Realms. Want to build your own class? Faceland. Want a campaign? Hyperborea. On Bedrock, start with the small Minehut servers, and switch to Java if you want the big ones. Addresses and versions change, so check each server's own site before you commit.
