The Best Hytale Mods in 2026 (and How to Install Them Safely)

Search for Hytale mods and you get a storefront, a couple of Reddit threads and a pile of videos. Not much that tells you what to install first. Update 6 (27 August 2026) changed the network protocol, so older mods needed rebuilding, and plenty of the early favorites went quiet. The game has since moved on to Update 7 (Chapter I, 12 October 2026), so a quick check on any mod page is the version tag: look for 0.7 in its Game Versions box. I've favored mods that CurseForge showed getting updates in September or October 2026, grouped by what you're after. Every update date below is what CurseForge showed on 24 October 2026. Check the page before you install, because this scene changes monthly.

Are there mods for Hytale?

Plenty. CurseForge has a dedicated Hytale section (6,742 projects on 24 October 2026), and Polygon reported in January that Hytale is officially partnering with CurseForge. Nexus Mods has a Hytale page too, but it's tiny by comparison at 107 mods. Browsing from inside the game got easier too. More on that below.

One thing to know up front: modding is server-first. Whoever hosts the world decides which mods are on, and that's true for your single-player save too, since single-player is basically a local server. You pick the mods for each save.

Best Hytale mods for quality of life and info overlays

BetterMap by Paralaxe is a persistent world map that remembers what you've explored, plus a cave map. Updated 20 October 2026. If you only install one mod, I'd make it this one.

EyeSpy by DarkhaxDev is a HUD that tells you what you're looking at: blocks, creatures, that kind of thing. If you ever used WAILA in Minecraft, this is that. Updated 1 September 2026.

Vein Mining by EineNT lets you hold the Walk key (left Alt) while breaking one block to mine the whole connected ore vein or cluster. Updated 12 October 2026. It's a small thing that saves your wrist on a long cave run.

Best Hytale mods for building

Block Builder by Ph0enix__Fire lets you select blocks in game and place them en masse, with copy and paste. Updated 24 October 2026. It's a small project, so expect rough edges.

Gothic Crystal by Octarock adds a cathedral-style block set with curved and single windows in clear or colored glass, chandeliers, tables and other decor. Updated 21 October 2026 and tagged for 0.7. It's still a work in progress and doors aren't in it yet, so treat it as a growing set.

If you'd rather not build everything yourself, CurseForge has separate Prefabs and Worlds categories: ready-made castles and houses, plus adventure maps and minigames like the co-op tower defense Castle Siege.

Best Hytale mods for new content, mobs and combat

Endgame & QoL by Lewaii is the big one. Version 6.0.0 adds four phased bosses, 16 elites, three dungeons, a new dimension called Luminia, quests, rideable pets and 160+ items, per its page. Updated 18 October 2026.

MAJOR DUNGEONS by MAJOR76 adds custom instanced dungeons with new weapons, armor, mounts and merchants. Updated 18 October 2026.

Perfect Parries by narwhals adds a precision parry: block just before a hit lands. Updated 18 October 2026. It makes combat feel better with almost no setup.

Wan's Wonder Weapons by WanMine adds unique relic weapons. Updated 12 October 2026.

RPG Leveling And Stats/Skills by Zuxaw_dev bolts on XP, levels, zones and stat points; version 0.3.0 adds classes and 18 passives. Updated 12 October 2026.

Zephyr by narwhals is a movement overhaul with gliding, wall jumps, dashes, grappling hooks and ziplines. Updated 18 October 2026.

Best Hytale mods for mounts, pets and animals

Alec's Animal Husbandry! by alechilles lets you tame, breed and level up the vanilla animals, with combat pets and mounts. Updated 22 October 2026. Read the dependencies list on its page before you install.

Celly's Wildlife Skins reskins neutral wildlife and is listed as compatible with Alec's Animal Husbandry. Updated 22 October 2026. Pure looks, but nice ones.

Endgame & QoL, above, also has rideable pets if you want mounts without a separate mod.

Best Hytale mods for performance and server admins

These run on the server, so they matter if you host. For your own FPS, start with the in-game settings, because Hytale's server handles worldgen, creature AI and physics. I wouldn't promise anyone a client FPS mod. Server-side, maintained performance mods are thin on the ground this autumn, and plenty of the ones people recommended back in January and February haven't been touched since.

spark by Iucko is a profiler that tells you why your server lags. It has a build made for Update 7, updated 20 October 2026. Drop the .jar in your mods folder and run it for about 30 seconds.

Nitrado PerformanceSaver eases a server's resource use when it's under pressure. Its last update was 28 August 2026, tagged for 0.6, so check that it supports Update 7 before you rely on it.

Seasons of Orbis by ziggfreed adds yearly events to your server, starting with Hallow's Eve. Updated 24 October 2026, which is good timing for a Halloween world.

Which Hytale mods to install first

1. BetterMap, so you stop getting lost.
2. EyeSpy, so you know what you're staring at.
3. Vein Mining, for the mining sessions.
4. Perfect Parries, for fights.
5. Endgame & QoL, once you've got a save you care about and want something to chase.

Add them a couple at a time. When something breaks, you'll know which one did it. If you host, add spark first.

How to install Hytale mods

The classic mistake is the wrong folder: people drop .jar files into a world's save folder and nothing shows up. Pick the route that fits.

1. In-game Mod Browser. Update 6 added one, reachable from the main menu. You can search, read a mod's description and install it, and a My Library screen lets you update or remove mods. There are no paid mods in it. It's the easiest start.
2. CurseForge app. Pick the Hytale icon, find a mod and hit Install. Right-click a world (edit world) to switch mods on or off for that save.
3. By hand. Download the file from the mod's CurseForge page and put it in UserData/Mods inside your Hytale folder. Follow the mod page if it says anything different about .zip or .jar files.

How to install Hytale mods on a server

On a dedicated server, mods go in by hand or through your host's control panel. Here's the routine:

• Put the .jar in the mods folder inside your server folder. Not a world folder, and not your client's UserData.
• Check the mod page for dependencies and for which game version it targets (the 0.7 tag is the current one). A mismatch can stop the server from starting.
• Stop the server before you add or remove mods, then restart and watch the logs.
• Back up first. Removing a mod can make its items vanish from the world.
• Some mod commands are admin-only and need permissions set up.

Is Hytale modding allowed?

Yes. Hytale's developers built the game around mods and have said so publicly. The EULA lets you make and share mods, with conditions, as long as you don't share Hytale's original game files. Are Hytale mods safe?

Treat every .jar like a program, because it is one. Hytale's tech director has said Java plugins "come with safety concerns," and Minecraft already learned the hard way, with malware disguised as mods. Stick to the Mod Browser, CurseForge or Nexus, look at who made the mod, and never run a .jar from a Discord DM, a video description or a random forum post. Joining a modded server doesn't download those files to you; they run on the server, which is one more reason to be picky about what you host.
