If you're searching for the best Terraria seeds, here's the short version: the good ones aren't numbers anymore. Terraria has special seeds you pick from the seed menu (Drunk World, For the Worthy, Remix and friends), plus 37 hidden secret seeds you unlock by typing a phrase. The picks below come from those, as of the 1.4.5.8 desktop patch in October 2026. The "who it's for" calls are my own.
How Terraria world seeds work
There are three kinds, and people mix up the names all the time:
- Ordinary seeds. A number or any text you type in the Seed field. The world gets generated from it.
- Special seeds. The named ones. They used to be called "secret seeds", but since 1.4.5 the wiki calls them special seeds, and you can pick them from the seed menu. They change a lot at once.
- Secret seeds. A newer batch of 37 hidden modifiers. 35 arrived with the 1.4.5 update (27 January 2026), and two more came in desktop patch 1.4.5.7. You type a phrase to unlock each one, then toggle it in a sub-menu. They're smaller tweaks, and they stack with each other and with every special seed. I've listed all of them, with the phrases, in my full list of Terraria secret seeds.
Typed phrases ignore capitals, spaces and punctuation, so for the worthy and ForTheWorthy are the same thing. Special and secret seeds work on PC, console and mobile.
Stacking special seeds
There are two ways to switch a special seed on, and they don't behave the same. In the Seed Menu (the seed icon next to World Seed on the world-creation screen) you can tick as many special seeds as you like, and together they make a combination. Typing a code into the seed field only holds one special seed at a time. Type a second code and it replaces the first. So if you want two special seeds in one world, tick them in the menu rather than typing both.
Zenith is the odd one out. Tick it and the game switches on every other special seed except Skyblock for you. Add every secret seed on top of that and you've got True Zenith, covered below.
The best Terraria seeds by what you want
This is my sorting, not an official ranking. I picked from what each seed is documented to do.
| You want... | Try | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A gentle first world | Celebrationmk10 | Mostly cosmetic and helpful changes |
| A safer map | Secret seeds fish mox and calm before the storm | No Corruption or Crimson to start, and no lightning |
| A real challenge | For the Worthy | Everything plays a difficulty stage up, and most bosses are bigger |
| The hardest thing in the game | Zenith, then True Zenith | Everything stacked on top of each other |
| A world to build in | Secret seeds abandoned manors, the care bears movie, save the rainforest | Bigger cabins, more floating islands, huge Living Trees |
| A different way to play | Remix, The Constant or Drunk World | They change how progression or survival works |
| Starting from almost nothing | Skyblock | A realm floating in the sky |
The special seeds, one by one
Celebrationmk10
Type celebrationmk10. The changes are mostly cosmetic or in your favor: Blood Moons are more common, and the Wizard Hat gets an extra minion slot. Rod of Discord drops get a boost too, to 1%. This is the one I'd hand a first-timer. Nothing about it is out to get you.
For the Worthy
Type for the worthy. The difficulty goes up one stage: a Classic world plays like Expert, Expert plays like Master, and Master shows up as "Legendary". The world creation menu won't show the bump. The world generates harsher too, with a Demolitionist instead of the Guide at the start, a Jungle Temple around three times bigger, and a chance that any chest outside the Dungeon holds an Angel Statue instead of its best item. Pots and trees can drop lit bombs. Most bosses are bigger (King Slime, Skeletron, Plantera and others), a few, like the Wall of Flesh and the Twins, are smaller, and nearly all of them get AI changes. It's one of only two seeds that allows Legendary difficulty. If you've beaten the game and want it to hurt again, start here.
Not the Bees
Type not the bees. It's a hive-and-honey world. Most of the map turns to Jungle, with Bee Hives and Honey Blocks everywhere, and the water outside the middle of the world is honey. The Merchant replaces the Guide, and you both spawn in the Jungle. There's an enormous Glowing Mushroom biome down in the lava layer, and the Dungeon is painted orange. Stone is scarce early on, so buy Wooden Arrows and a Furnace from the Merchant. World generation takes a very long time. Fun for a laugh. I wouldn't pick it for a serious first run.
Drunk World
Type 5162020 (leading zeros are fine). It generates both world evils and every ore variant, the Dungeon entrance sits under a brown-painted Living Tree, and the Party Girl replaces the Guide as your starting NPC. The Jungle Temple can be up to three times bigger. The evil it counts as current swaps every day at 4:30 AM. It's chaotic in a good way, and best once you know the base game.
The Constant
Type the constant. This is the Don't Starve Together crossover, and a lot of players still call it the "don't starve seed". It adds Hunger and Darkness mechanics, and cacti hurt you. A survival-game mood in a Terraria world.
Remix
Type dont dig up. Progression flips: you start in the Underworld, the surface is a corrupted, inhospitable region, and weather, ocean and fishing move down into the lower layers. Several weapon tiers shift too. It also turns off NPC happiness, which I'd count as a perk if you like packing NPCs into tight towns. I'd call it the most interesting special seed for a veteran.
No Traps
Type no traps. The name lies. This seed has far more traps (about 15 times the normal amount), and it adds Bouncy Boulders and Life Crystal Boulders. If you want no traps, you're looking for the secret seed more traps please, which does remove them.
Skyblock
Type skyblock. The game's own description: "Enter a realm floating in the sky. With little to start with, you must build up your world from humble beginnings." The details of how it plays have their own page: my Terraria skyblock seed guide.
Zenith (also "Get fixed boi" or "Everything")
Type get fixed boi. It combines most of what the other special and secret seeds do, then adds its own problems. You start on an island in the Underworld with the Hunger debuff. NPCs that are there on day one die by the end of it. It makes three times the normal traps, the true surface is always night, and the top of the world is instant death. The wiki guide is written for Legendary difficulty, and its advice is to play the component seeds first.
Is Zenith the "god seed"?
Not in the way people hope. The alternate name "Everything" makes it sound like a loot jackpot. People ask "what seed gives you everything?" and it doesn't. Zenith is a difficulty world. If you want the hardest possible setup, the community calls the next step up True Zenith: every secret seed plus every special seed except Skyblock, which the wiki calls the highest world difficulty possible. It starts in Hardmode too, thanks to the too easy seed. That one is a punishment, not a prize.
Secret seeds worth grabbing
You don't need all 37. If you want a nicer world rather than a harder one, these are the ones I'd try first:
fish mox: no Corruption or Crimson to start with, so nothing spreading across your base.calm before the storm: no lightning strikes.beam me up: teleporters scattered through the world.abandoned manors: larger underground cabins.the care bears movie: extra floating islands.save the rainforest: extra big Living Trees.
Watch out for too easy. It starts you in Hardmode, so it's the opposite of the name.
What about numeric seeds?
You'll see a lot of "best seed" lists that are just numbers from a video. I'd be careful with them. The wiki says the same number gives you an identical world only if the world size, evil biome and any special or secret seeds match too. Generation has also been patched over the years, so check what an old seed gives you before you commit to it. If a number was posted before 1.4.5, treat it as a maybe.
Honestly?
My picks
First world: Celebrationmk10, plus fish mox if you hate Corruption creeping in. Second world: Remix or Drunk World. Once you're confident: For the Worthy. Zenith is a final exam, not a starting point. And if the skyblock seed is what you really came for, the skyblock guide is the place. If you're out of Terraria worlds to try, games like Terraria has more sandboxes.
Folly, if you like island starts
Folly is a free voxel game coming soon in early access where every player starts on their own small island. Here's how that loop works.
