The Best Vanilla Minecraft Servers in 2026 (Java and Bedrock IPs)

Pure, semi-vanilla and vanilla-in-name-only, sorted by how close each server actually plays to the real game.

Vanilla Minecraft servers are supposed to play like the game you already own: same survival, same mobs, same crafting, just with other people in the world. The catch is that "vanilla" is one of the most abused tags in server lists. Plenty of servers wear it while selling crate keys and running an economy plugin. So this page sorts servers by the thing you actually care about, how close they stay to unmodified Minecraft, and gives you the addresses, edition support, claim rules, reset policy and store situation for each.

Server details come straight from each server's own site and posts, checked October 2026. Minecraft moved to year-based versions in 2026 (26.3 is the current Java release as of September 2026), and server versions drift with every drop, so treat the version column as a snapshot.

What counts as a vanilla Minecraft server?

There's a spectrum, and the directories describe it pretty consistently:

Past purity, a few choices decide whether you'll like a server:

PureVanilla: the closest to the real thing, with a semi-vanilla option

PureVanilla has been running since 2019 and splits into three game modes under one address, play.purevanilla.co. Two are relevant here. (The third is an economy mode, and that's not vanilla.) It's listed as Java. Its own pages don't mention Bedrock, so don't count on it.

Vanilla mode is the real deal on paper: no game-changing plugins, no kits or starter items, no random teleports, no McMMO or RPG stuff, and no grief protection. Your base is only as safe as the people around you. There's a player-run item economy (players trading with each other, nothing coded in), regular backups and a recently generated world.

Semi-Vanilla mode adds land claims, home and player teleports, and /back on death. It has no economy, no admin shops, no creative mode, and the site says no pay-to-win.

The rules are the usual fair-play ones: no hacking or botting, no X-ray or lava fog remover texture packs, no PvP optimizer mods, no item duping, and combat logging is punished automatically. TNT duping and bedrock breaking are disabled.

The good: a long track record, a genuine no-claims option, and a semi-vanilla fallback if you want protection.

The less good: it resets. The site says it usually happens about every two years, decided by community vote. There's also a store with perks per mode. The site says no pay-to-win, but look through the shop yourself before you decide how you feel about it.

Vanilla Europa: semi-vanilla that tells you exactly what it adds

Vanilla Europa is up front about being semi-vanilla, which I like. Java players connect to play.vanillaeuropa.com. Bedrock players use the same address with port 19132. It says it's been running since November 2018 with zero full-map resets, and the world border expands with each update.

What it adds is listed openly: land claims, /home, /tpa, /wild, optional proximity voice chat, and a chest-shop economy at the Market warp where diamonds are the currency. It says there are no admin shops, no server currencies, no custom classes and no paid combat advantages.

The rules are the clearest of the three. Griefing gets a permanent ban. Unclaimed bases can be raided but not griefed, and staff won't fix builds you deliberately left unclaimed. PvP only happens with mutual consent. Claims expire after 60 days of inactivity. There are no casinos, AFK fishing, TNT duping or chunk loaders. It also lists lag limits, like 480 chests per chunk. Client mods are fine as long as they don't give you an advantage, so Xaero's Map, Litematica (no printer) and Distant Horizons are on the allowed list.

The good: crossplay, no resets, a rulebook that answers the questions you'd ask.

The less good: it isn't pure, and it has a store. The site says there are no paid gameplay advantages. Have a look at what's sold before you decide how you feel about it.

JustVanilla: no claims, no resets, and griefing is allowed

JustVanilla is the rough-and-tumble option. Java players join mc.justvanilla.net, and Bedrock players use the same address on port 19132, in the same world. For version, the site says to join on any version up to 26.1.2, so going by its own site, it's behind the latest release.

It describes itself as pure vanilla: no economy plugins, no items for sale, no cheats. The server's own Reddit post says no world resets, no land claims, no economy and no pay-to-win.

No claims means exactly what you think. Griefing and stealing are allowed. What's banned is griefing the map for the sake of it: random lava casts, holes, withers at spawn. PvP without consent is allowed too, but portal trapping and blocking join/leave aren't. Hacked clients, X-ray and dupes are out, and so are seed-cracking tools. Optifine, Sodium, minimaps and Badlion are fine, Schematica works with the printer disabled, and freecam, chest finders and world downloaders are banned.

The good: no resets, no store, and Bedrock and Java in one world.

The less good: it's a real risk if you've got a base you'd cry over losing. If that's you, Vanilla Europa is the better fit.

Vanilla anarchy and community servers

Purity Vanilla is vanilla anarchy: no gameplay-altering plugins, no teleporting, no homes. That's a different game from everything above, and I cover it in my guide to Minecraft anarchy servers. If it's the Donut SMP style of survival you're after instead, my roundup of servers like Donut SMP covers that scene.

For community SMPs where the people matter more than the plugin list, my roundup of the best Minecraft SMP servers has the vetting checklist. Minehut hosts community servers too, and its vanilla page lists a handful of small ones, many described as "vanilla SMP with a few plugins". Java players connect to mc.minehut.com and Bedrock players to bedrock.minehut.com on port 19132, then run /join followed by the server's name. They come and go fast. If you'd rather run your own, here's free Minecraft server hosting compared.
