Looking for Bedwars servers? Quick refresher on the game first. You and your team spawn on a floating island with a bed and a resource generator. Iron and gold pile up at your base, diamonds sit on the islands in between, and emeralds sit in the middle of the map. You spend all of it on blocks, weapons and team upgrades, then you go break everyone else's bed. While your bed stands, you respawn. Once it's gone, your next death is a final kill and you're out. Last team standing wins.
Search results for this are mostly directories with live counters and no opinions. This list is five servers, sorted by the thing that actually decides it for you: which edition you're on. The short version? On Java, Hypixel is the reference. On Bedrock, The Hive. Playing with friends across both editions? Start with CubeCraft. Player counts are from October 14, 2026, and a count is one moment on one day, not a promise.

Hypixel: the Java Bedwars everyone measures against
Hypixel Bed Wars hit version 1.0 on June 29, 2017, and the fan-run Hypixel Wiki says it was the network's second most played game after SkyBlock, going by a March 2024 forum post. If you play on Java, this is the one to judge every other server against. And if it's SkyBlock you're after rather than beds, my roundup of the best skyblock servers covers that side of things.
The modes are the classic set: Solo, Doubles, 3v3v3v3 and 4v4v4v4, plus a 4v4 mode, rotating Dream modes and a Practice mode for drilling. Timed events upgrade the generators, then wipe every remaining bed, then kick off Sudden Death with Ender dragons.
Join at mc.hypixel.net. You need the PC/Mac version of Minecraft, which is Java. Hypixel's own join guide says Windows 10, Pocket Edition and console versions won't work, so if you're on a console or a phone, this one's not for you. Hypixel supports 1.8 and 1.21, and it says 1.8.9 and the latest release are the best versions to play on.
Good: a long-running Bed Wars with plenty of ways to play, including a Practice mode.
Not so good: Java only, full stop. If you're on Bedrock and it's the big-network feel you're after, my roundup of Minecraft servers like Hypixel sorts the alternatives by edition.
The store: ranks, bundles, gold, SkyBlock gems, boosters and companions, and there's no Bed Wars section of its own. The Hypixel Wiki says the Bed Wars cosmetics don't give you any in-game advantage. Checked October 2026.
CubeCraft: Bedwars on Java and Bedrock, with a big fresh update
CubeCraft runs one network for Java and Bedrock, and Bedwars is one of its modes. It's also the most actively shaken-up Bedwars on this list right now. The September 17, 2026 "Epic BedWars Update" added three new shop items (a Ghast for 10 diamonds, a Ravager for 20 and a Copper Golem for 10), an Ender Chest on every island, experimental island portals on three maps per mode, and four new maps: Neon and Classroom for solo and duos, City and Pyramids for teams of four.
It also brought two changes that got people arguing in the forum thread. Regen got nerfed in combat, and matchmaking is now skill-based instead of grouping you by input device. Plenty of players in that thread say SBMM makes lobbies sweatier and queues slower, fights are too short now, and the portals are "anti-Bedwars".
On Java, join at play.cubecraft.net. It wants 1.21.8 or newer. On Bedrock, look for "CubeCraft" in the Servers tab. You'll need an Xbox Live account and version 1.21.120 or newer.
Good: one network for mixed-edition friend groups, and new maps and cosmetics landing regularly.
Not so good: no old clients, and the new matchmaking won't suit everyone.
The store: the web store sells "ranks, multipliers and more", but it's for Java players only. On Bedrock, the store sits in your game's pause menu. On Bedrock there are also VIP Levels, and they aren't a rank. They're a loyalty ladder you climb by buying CubeCraft content, and going by CubeCraft's 2022 help page they unlock cosmetics, extra friend and party slots, and access to some modes. Check what a rank actually gets you before you buy. Checked October 2026.
The Hive: the best Bedwars servers for Bedrock
If you're on Bedrock, The Hive is the obvious first stop. Its official join guide only covers Bedrock, and it's a featured server, so it's already sitting in your Servers tab. Its Bedwars is properly alive, too. Season 5 landed on September 4, 2026 with a Wild West theme, new items (Dynamite, a Lasso, a Minecart, Rocket Boots and a Spring), two new team upgrades called Houdini and Dead Man's Hand, bounties, and new maps: Canyon for solo, Lumbermill for duos and Railway for squads. There's also a BedWars: Duels mode, added on March 13, 2026.
Prefer typing an address? The main one is geo.hivebedrock.cloud. For a specific region, use ca.hivebedrock.network (North America), fr.hivebedrock.network (Europe) or sg.hivebedrock.network (Asia), with local zones at au.hivebedrock.network (Australia) and in.hivebedrock.network (India). One catch: The Hive drops you into your nearest region, and you have to be in the same region as your friends to party up. Type /region to switch. As of October 6, 2026 it supports Bedrock 1.21.130 and versions 26.0 through 26.52.
Good: regular seasons that keep adding new toys, and it's right there in the Servers tab.
The store: two ranks, Hive+ for 1,690 Minecoins and Hive Ultimate for 3,420 (or 1,690 if you're upgrading from Hive+). They get you cosmetics, 50% or 75% XP boosts, extra map votes, bigger parties and more friend slots, and The Hive's rank page doesn't list any combat perks. Season tickets are cosmetic, like Season 5's cowboy armour and mounts. Checked October 2026.
PikaNetwork: a busy crossplay network with paid Bedwars ranks
PikaNetwork runs around eleven game modes, and BedWars is one of them, with player levels, daily quests and cosmetics. It's busy, too: about 1,400 players online across the whole network when I checked on October 14, 2026.
Join at play.pika-network.net. Pika says the same address works from both Java and Bedrock through cross-platform play. The first time you join, it asks you to set an in-game password in chat with /register. Pika doesn't publish a version range, so check that your client gets in before you plan a session around it.
Good: lots of people online, crossplay on one address, and quests to give your grind a shape.
The store: BedWars has its own permanent ranks: VIP for $11, Elite for $34 and Titan for $84, sold with "special perks, abilities, and kits". Open the rank pages and read exactly what those kits do before you pay. That's what decides whether you'll be fighting people who bought an edge. Prices as of October 2026, and stores change them.
JartexNetwork: Pika's sister network
JartexNetwork comes from the same operator as Pika, CraftiGames, and it's a big all-rounder. Bedwars and TheBridge sit alongside Factions, SkyBlock, Prison, Survival, Lifesteal, OneBlock, KitPvP and Gens. Join at play.jartexnetwork.com. It had about 600 players online across the network when I checked on October 14, 2026, a good deal quieter than Pika.
Jartex says it's Bedrock-compatible, so you can play from a PS4, Xbox, Android, iOS, a Windows 10 PC or any other Bedrock device. Its join steps are written for Java, though, and like Pika it asks you to set a password in chat with /register the first time you join. On Bedrock, grab the address from Jartex's site or Discord. It doesn't publish a version range either, so test your client first.
Good: a decent crowd, crossplay, and TheBridge next door when you want a change.
The store: there's no Bedwars section. It's split by mode (Factions, SkyBlock, Prison, Survival and the rest), plus a Minigames category and a Jartex Plus subscription. Checked October 2026.
Bedwars servers on Bedrock
Four of the five take Bedrock players:
- The Hive: in the Servers tab, or
geo.hivebedrock.cloud. The best Bedwars server for Bedrock, if you only try one. - CubeCraft: in the Servers tab. The pick if your friends are on Java.
- PikaNetwork:
play.pika-network.net, which Pika says works on both editions. If it won't connect from Bedrock, check Pika's site or Discord for the Bedrock address. - JartexNetwork: Jartex says it's Bedrock-compatible but doesn't list a Bedrock address, so get it from Jartex's site or Discord.
Hypixel is the only Java-only one of the five. On a console, featured servers are the easy route. If you want a server that isn't in the tab, my guide on how to add servers on Minecraft Xbox covers the workarounds for Xbox, PS5 and Switch.
Bedwars servers for 1.8.9 (and for modern versions)
Plenty of Bedwars players still want 1.8.9 combat, while others are on the newest release. Here's where a 1.8.9 client stands:
- Hypixel: yes. It supports 1.8 and 1.21, and it names 1.8.9 as one of the two best versions to play on. Of these five, it's the one to pick with a 1.8.9 client.
- CubeCraft: no. Java needs 1.21.8 or newer.
- The Hive: no. It's Bedrock, on 1.21.130 and the 26.x builds.
- PikaNetwork and JartexNetwork: neither publishes a version range, so just try connecting with your client.
What other servers have Bed Wars?
Plenty more show up on server lists. One worth knowing about is Galaxite's Core Wars (it used to be called Planets). Galaxite calls it its own version of Bedwars with some unique additions, in Doubles and Quads. It isn't straight Bedwars, but if you like the formula and want a twist, it's that.
Before you pick a Bedwars server
- Edition and version. If a server doesn't say it takes Bedrock, treat it as Java only. And check the server runs a version your game can actually join.
- Do the queues fill? A Bedwars server lives or dies on matchmaking. A big total player count means nothing if the 4v4s sit half empty.
- The store. Cosmetics and XP boosts are one thing. Kits and abilities you can take into a match are another. Read the rank pages.
So which server is best for Bedwars?
On Java, especially if you play 1.8.9 PvP? Hypixel. On Bedrock? The Hive, and Season 5 is a fun time to jump in. Mixed group across Java and Bedrock on modern versions? CubeCraft, as long as SBMM doesn't drive you mad. Want a busy crossplay network and don't mind a store with kits in it? Pika, with Jartex as its quieter sibling. Need a break from beds? My list of Minecraft parkour servers has some of the same networks in a calmer mood, and Minecraft servers to join covers where else to start.
